First, they are great for shade, depending on the height of the top rails and their spacing will reflect on how well they will work for shade. Secondly, they are nice for adding another element to your yard. They con trast nicely with pavers, natural stone and plant material. They can incorporate details from either the house, deck, or fence by tying in these different features in with the details you can draw your landscape together.
